IN 2017...
our family left Los Angeles and moved to Salt Spring Island B.C., where we opened a Jewish Deli on an Island with more bears than Jews.
BUT LETS GO BACK A FEW YEARS TO MONTREAL, CANADA... …
…where Howard (Buzzy) was born, and learned to love Montreal Smoked Meat served in some of the world’s most renowned and delicious deli’s. After twenty years as a standup comic and another bunch as a sitcom writer, it was time to try something new. So when Melanie, (Mrs Buzzy) said, lets move to Salt Spring Island and make smoked meat, it was an offer Buzzy couldn’t refuse.
(As I write this I now realize this is the business plan of a madman!)
SO WE OPENED BUZZY’S.
With sandwiches named “The Hungry Jew” and “The Rabinowitz”, we expected that it wouldn’t be long before the locals came after us with torches and set us adrift in a rowboat. Instead we’ve been embraced by the community and visitors alike.
